Santo Domingo.- Varias instituciones estatales agrupadas en la Mesa de Coordinación del Recurso Agua, anunciaron la celebración de la Primera Conferencia Nacional del Agua e hicieron un llamado de concienciación y racionalización a la población sobre el uso del preciado líquido ante los efectos de la sequía que afecta al país.
Se trata de la Corporación del Acueducto y Alcantarillado de Santo Domingo (CAASD), el Ministerio de Economía, Planificación y Desarrollo (MEPyD), Instituto Nacional de Aguas Potables y Alcantarillados (INAPA), Ministerio de Medio Ambiente, Instituto Nacional de Recursos Hidráulicos (INDRHI) y el Ministerio de Salud Pública. En el evento, las mismas abordarán el importante tema de la seguridad hídrica nacional.
El director general de la CAASD, arquitecto Alejandro Montás, explicó que cuando suceden situaciones de sequía priorizan el servicio para consumo humano y bajan el de agua para riego, medida que permite servirle a la población agua potable y no someterla a una carencia extrema del servicio.
Agregó que el plan de racionalización del agua seguirá en el Gran Santo Domingo, el cual implica la reducción de los días del servicio en todos los sectores de la capital y de la provincia Santo Domingo.
«No estamos todavía en periodo de emergencia, la situación aún es manejable pero no podemos esperar la emergencia para actuar. Estamos preparados, trabajando con responsabilidad y dando respuestas», sostuvo el director de la CAASD.
Por su lado, el ministro de Economía, Isidoro Santana, garantizó la seguridad hídrica nacional e indicó que “la Mesa del Agua propone un ordenador de las aguas para hacer cumplir la ley en cuanto a eficiencia y regulación”.
“El país tiene retos para avanzar, por eso haremos la Primera Conferencia Nacional del Agua, desde el 21 al 23 de marzo, sobre la seguridad hídrica nacional, tanto desde el enfoque de avances institucionales como del referente de importantes implementos tecnológicos en el procesamiento del agua”, detalló.
Explicó que, para conmemorar el 22 de marzo, Día Mundial del Agua, se reunirán más de 70 instituciones públicas y privadas y se tienen proyectadas las exposiciones de la Feria Institucional del Agua y Expo Agua.
La Conferencia Nacional del Agua será realizada del 21 al 23 de marzo, en el hotel Dominican Fiesta, en el Distrito Nacional.
El anuncio durante rueda de prensa también contó con representación de la Asociación Dominicana de Procesadores de Agua (ASOPROAGUA) y la Asociación Dominicana de Ingeniería Sanitaria y Ambiental (ADIS).
SOBRE LAS ÚLTIMAS LLUVIAS
El director de la CAASD informó que los niveles de agua subieron la madrugada de este martes, producto de las lluvias ocurridas en la cuenca del río Haina Manoguayabo.
«De tres equipos que estaban funcionando, hoy tenemos diez a plena capacidad, lo que aumenta en 20 millones de galones de agua los 369 millones que teníamos y ahora pasan a ser 389 millones de galones», indicó el arquitecto Montás.
Dijo que los Sistemas Duey, Isa- Mana e Isabela mejorarán en lo que queda de esta semana, pero que el suministro de agua potable en los hogares no debe ser desatendido al tratarse de una situación cíclica.
«El día de ayer no esperábamos tanta agua y al llover mejoraron las condiciones. Ayer teníamos un 70% de los equipos fuera de servicio y el día de hoy estamos trabajando a plena capacidad. No obstante, sigue el plan de racionalización. Hay que cuidar lo poco que tenemos», destacó.
En ese mismo sentido, el director del INDRHI, Olgo Fernández, indicó que se tienen las aguas garantizadas para cultivos en varias zonas del país y que el Gobierno ha tomado las medidas necesarias con los reservorios del preciado líquido.
