Alejandro Montás reitera llamado a ciudadanía para usar racionalmente el líquido con la mayor precaución posible
Santo Domingo.- La Corporación del Acueducto y Alcantarillado de Santo Domingo (CAASD) informó que su producción de agua potable se redujo este martes en 73 millones de galones al día, lo que afecta mayormente al municipio Santo Domingo Este, mientras hacen falta lluvias que mejoren los caudales de los ríos de que se sirven sus acueductos.
El director general de la CAASD, arquitecto Alejandro Montás, precisó que la producción de agua potable actual de la institución es de 347 millones de galones por día.
Señaló que la falta de lluvias es la causante de que más de 45 sectores en Santo Domingo Este registren dificultades en el servicio del preciado líquido, debido al déficit en la producción del Acueducto Oriental o Barrera de Salinidad.
“En condiciones normales este sistema debe aportar 88 millones de galones por día y hoy está produciendo unos 26 millones. Solamente en este acueducto estamos teniendo unos 62 millones de galones menos“, detalló.
Montás informó que entre los sectores afectados en el citado municipio están: Isabelita I y II, Corales del Sur, Reparto Los Tres Ojos, Los Tres Ojos, Brisa del Este, Valle del Este, Franconia, Amanda I y II, La Esperanza, Paraíso Oriental, Nuevo Amanecer, El Rosal, residencial Italia, La Caña, Villa Faro, Santa Lucía de Mendoza, Los Frailes, El Almirante, Prados de la Caña, Los Alpes I, II y III, Carolina, Vecinos Unidos, Ralma, El Naranjo, Sabaneta de San Luis y otros.
El funcionario puntualizó que la producción de los acueductos Isa-Mana, Duey y Haina Manoguayabo también ha disminuido, por lo que sectores del municipio Santo Domingo Oeste que se abastecen de estos sistemas pueden estar sintiendo algunos niveles de dificultad en el suministro de agua potable.
Montás dijo que para mitigar esta problemática la CAASD ha puesto al servicio de la ciudadanía una flotilla de más de 100 camiones cisterna para atender los sectores más vulnerables.
Reiteró que la CAASD está trabajando 24 horas al día a fin de aminorar los efectos de esta situación.
Alejandro Montás recordó el llamado a la ciudadanía a hacer un uso racional del agua potable y entender que esta situación trasciende a la voluntad de la institución, pues es producto del fenómeno de la naturaleza llamado sequía
