Reporta déficit de 57 millones de galones diarios del preciado líquido
Santo Domingo.- El director general de la Corporación del Acueducto y Alcantarillado de Santo Domingo (CAASD), arquitecto Alejandro Montás, pidió encarecidamente a la ciudadanía crear conciencia y dar uso responsable al agua potable, ante el déficit aproximado de 57 millones de galones del preciado líquido en la producción por día de la institución.
Explicó que actualmente la producción de agua potable de la CAASD es de 363 millones de galones diarios, siendo 420 millones la producción estándar para servir al Gran Santo Domingo en condiciones normales.
“Hemos contemplado la perforación de pozos en ríos subterráneos para compensar las deficiencias del servicio para distintos sectores, ante los efectos de la prolongada sequía, ya que no hemos tenido los aguaceros de la magnitud que necesitamos”, puntualizó Montás.
No obstante, Montás aseguró que cuentan con una flotilla de 90 camiones cisterna que han estado ofreciendo el servicio de manera gratuita en los distintos sectores que han sido afectados ante la sequía que ha golpeado al país desde noviembre del pasado año hasta la fecha.
Se trata de sectores en los municipios Los Alcarrizos y Pedro Brand, así como Los Girasoles, Villa Linda, Plamarejo, Palmarejito, residenciales a lo largo de la avenida República de Colombia, Ciudad Real I y II, Villa Graciela, Arrollo Hondo Viejo y III, al igual que algunos del municipio Santo Domingo Oeste.
Para la distribución del agua potable en el Distrito Nacional, dijo que la CAASD ha rediseñado la frecuencia en el servicio, debido a la disminución de agua presentada en la presa de Valdesia, principal fuente para alimentar esta zona.
Los ríos Nizao, Haina, Duey, Isa, Ozama e Isabela han presentado disminución en sus caudales, pese a las pocas lluvias ocasionales presentadas durante la temporada ciclónica, que, aunque amortiguaron un poco la situación, estuvieron por debajo de lo esperado, agregó finalmente el funcionario.
