Santo Domingo. – La Corporación del Acueducto y Alcantarillado de Santo Domingo (CAASD) informó que garantiza el servicio de agua potable y que, pese a la falta de aguaceros en el último mes, la producción del preciado líquido se mantiene estable para abastecer la demanda de la ciudadanía.
El director general de la CAASD, ingeniero Felipe Suberví, indicó que en la reciente semana produjeron 418 millones de galones diarios, debido a que los ríos que sirven de fuentes a los sistemas de la institución mantienen caudales adecuados para que los acueductos funcionen apropiadamente.
«Nuestro principal acueducto, Valdesia Santo Domingo, produce 155 millones de galones por día; esto quiere decir que opera en buena condición, gracias a los embalses de Jigüey y Valdesia, que mantienen niveles aceptables de agua almacenada», comunicó Suberví.
Detalló que la presa de Valdesia se encuentra en la cota (altura) 147.16 metros sobre el nivel del mar (MSNM), y el embalse de Jigüey está en la cota 538.80 MSNM. El funcionario también explicó que el río Nizao ha descendido de forma considerable en 3.12 metros cúbicos por segundo (m³/seg), por la escasez de lluvias en la vertiente sur de la Cordillera Central, donde nace este afluente. Suberví también destacó que, tradicionalmente, los meses de febrero y marzo son secos, por lo que a partir de ahora podrían registrarse algunas disminuciones en los caudales de los ríos.
«Llamamos a la población a hacer un uso racional del líquido que le servimos. Úsenlo esencialmente en labores domésticas y eviten utilizarlo innecesariamente en lavado de vehículos o en regar jardines», expuso el director.
Solución de averías y mantenimiento de redes para mejorar servicios al GSD El director de la CAASD indicó que en la semana recién terminada el equipo de trabajo de la Corporación corrigió 171 averías en líneas de agua potable de diferentes diámetros, dio mantenimiento a ocho válvulas, realizó cinco desobstrucciones y detectó fugas no visibles en diferentes hogares, para mejorar la distribución del líquido. Las correcciones de averías en líneas de agua potable alcanzaron a sectores como: Villa María, Flor de Loto, Villa Juana, Atala, Invi, Renacimiento, Los Praditos, Gascue, Los Mina, Isabelita, Cancino, Alma Rosa II, Mata Los Indios, Los Guaricanos, Marañón III, entre otros.
En el alcantarillado sanitario, los trabajadores de la CAASD realizaron 6,246 intervenciones, dieron cuidados a 5,683 metros lineales de redes, 373 registros y a 187 acometidas. También repararon una línea y una acometida para llevar higiene y salud a la gente.
«Este fin de semana, nuestras brigadas trabajaron en la construcción de una acometida sanitaria en la avenida Independencia, para la Cancillería, y en los próximos días construirán otra en la avenida 30 de Mayo del Distrito Nacional», prosiguió. “Nuestro equipo humano labora de manera atenta las 24 horas para dar respuesta a las
necesidades que surjan con los servicios que ofrecemos», recordó. «Estamos comprometidos con el cambio que espera la gente, para dar calidad de vida al Gran Santo Domingo», dijo finamente el ingeniero Felipe Suberví.
