Santo Domingo. – Varios funcionarios y comunicadores resaltaron los beneficios para el medio ambiente y la salud preventiva de residentes del Gran Santo Domingo que generará cuando entre en operación la Planta de Tratamiento de Aguas Residuales Mirador Norte La Zurza que construye el Gobierno a través de la Corporación del Acueducto y Alcantarillado de Santo Domingo (CAASD).
En un recorrido guiado, el director general de la CAASD, arquitecto Alejandro Montás, mostró los avances de la obra al embajador de República Dominicana ante las Naciones Unidas, Juan Ávila Ceballos, al secretario general de la Alcaldía de Santo Domingo Este, Freddy Santana, y a los comunicadores Michael Miguel Holguín y Miguel Susana.
Durante la actividad, los visitantes fueron informados sobre el desarrollo y los equipos con los que operará esta obra, considerada como la más grande que en estos momentos construye el gobierno que encabeza el presidente Danilo Medina en beneficio de la salud preventiva de los residentes del Distrito Nacional y del municipio Santo Domingo Norte.
Montás recordó que, además del saneamiento diario de 27 millones de galones de agua que serán devueltos totalmente limpios al río Isabela, se beneficiará la salud de unas 450 mil personas y se producirá biogás y abono orgánico que será usado en el cultivo de tierras en la provincia Barahona que serán irrigadas por las aguas del Proyecto Múltiple Monte Grande.
“Estamos construyendo debajo de la tierra con equipos de microtunelación y pilote secante, estamos perforando la ciudad a 15 metros de profundidad para conectar los barrios y ni cuenta se están dando”, detalló el director de la CAASD.
Precisó que trabajan en la construcción de un puente de 240 metros lineales para cruzar sobre el río Isabela y pasar las tuberías a Santo Domingo Norte.
Mientras, el diplomático dominicano ante la ONU señaló: «con esta planta vemos que hemos avanzado mucho y el trabajo que se ha hecho aquí debe servir de ejemplo y orgullo a su legado, esto les servirá a las futuras generaciones del país».
«Esta es una obra impresionante para Santo Domingo Norte y una parte del Gran Santo Domingo, una planta de esta calidad y con esta tecnología», resaltó el comunicador Michael Miguel Holguín tras escuchar los detalles de la obra y las respuestas a las inquietudes sobre la misma que expresó al equipo de ingenieros de la CAASD.
El periodista Miguel Susana, por su lado, señaló que «esta es una deuda social que el Gobierno, a través de la CAASD, viene a suplir. Esto es algo que se anhelaba porque el saneamiento de las aguas contaminadas es llevar salud, y cuando llevamos salud se mejora la calidad de vida de la ciudadanía».
De igual modo, el secretario general de la Alcaldía de Santo Domingo Este, Freddy Santana, expresó que «este es un recorrido muy educativo. Nosotros no teníamos conciencia de la magnitud del beneficio que traerá en el ambiente, en más de un 50% estará solucionado».
Esta obra tiene un costo de unos RD$6,000 millones y se prevé que esté lista en el primer semestre de este año.
