Santo Domingo. – La Corporación del Acueducto y Alcantarillado de Santo Domingo (CAASD) informó que las lluvias ocurridas en los últimos días han favorecido los sistemas de abastecimiento de agua potable, garantizando un servicio estable a la población de la provincia y el Distrito Nacional.
En ese sentido, el director general de la CAASD, ingeniero Felipe Suberví, destacó que, debido al aumento en los volúmenes de agua, los acueductos trabajan a toda capacidad.
“Para nosotros las lluvias son muy beneficiosas porque permite que los caudales de los ríos que sirven de fuente a nuestros acueductos se incrementen y operen a plena capacidad”, expresó el funcionario.
El titular de la entidad estatal señaló, que los sistemas Isa Mana y Duey, en tiempos de lluvias, son cerrados parcialmente, debido a que poseen un alto grado de turbidez y sedimento.
Asimismo, Suberví aclaró, que estos acueductos no cuentan con una planta de tratamiento por el buen estado de sus cuencas, las cuales, bacteriológicamente hablando, producen agua de calidad.
Indicó que, el aumento de turbidez en los acueductos Haina, Manoguayabo e Isabela, requieren de desinfección para eliminar las bacterias a través de sustancias químicas, como el sulfato de aluminio para la clarificación del agua en las plantas.
El director de la CAASD precisó, que la producción de agua potable que sirve la entidad a los residentes del Gran Santo Domingo se mantiene en 431 millones de galones diarios, gracias a la incorporación de equipos que se encontraban fuera de servicio.
“Habíamos establecido una producción de 420 millones de galones por día. Ahora producimos 37 millones de galones más, gracias a la rehabilitación de equipos que se encontraban fuera de servicio”, resaltó.

El ingeniero Suberví detalló que las brigadas de la CAASD corrigieron 112 averías de diferentes diámetros en los sectores de La Rosa, Ciudad Colonial, Lucerna, Prados de la Caña, Alma Rosa II, San Luis, San Isidro, Mata Maimón II, Los Arquianos, Los Trinitarios, Villa Mella, Guachapita, Villas Agrícolas, Villa Francisca, Villa Consuelo, El Manguito, Buenos Aires, de Herrera, entre otros.
Sobre las redes de alcantarillado sanitario, dijo que en la recién finalizada semana la institución ejecutó labores de mantenimiento a 10,450 metros de línea de diferentes diámetros, 210 acometidas, 127 registros externos y 176 internos.
