Santo Domingo.– La Corporación de Acueducto y Alcantarillado de Santo Domingo (CAASD) dispuso todas las medidas y unidades de camiones cisternas necesarios para el suministro del agua, a fin de sofocar el incendio producido en la empresa fabricadora de plásticos Polyplas, en el sector Villas Agrícolas, del Distrito Nacional.
El director general de la CAASD, arquitecto Alejandro Montás, estuvo en el lugar supervisando personalmente el accionar de la institución con la finalidad de aportar a la sofocación del siniestro.
“Hemos destinado 16 camiones cisterna de agua y tres patanas con capacidad de 10 mil galones cada una, para suministrar el agua necesaria hasta socavar el fuego”, expresó Montás.
Asimismo, explicó que fue puesto a disposición el sistema de acueducto de Valdesia.
Se destinaron mangueras directas para enfrentar la situación y decenas de camiones del Cuerpo de Bomberos del Distrito Nacional fueron abastecidos por la Corporación, agregó.
Montás resaltó la unidad mostrada por los diferentes organismos que conforman la Comisión de Emergencias, los ministerios de Salud y de Obras Públicas y Comunicaciones (MOPC), la Defensa Civil, entre otros, “con una sola finalidad, garantizar la seguridad ciudadana. Los ciudadanos son lo más importante”.
Añadió que el sistema Kennedy fue activado especialmente para esta situación y garantizar que no faltara agua para contrarrestar el incendio, según explicó Luis Salcedo, director de Operaciones de la CAASD.
David Collado, alcalde del Distrito Nacional, agradeció la pronta intervención ejecutada por la CAASD e informó que hasta el momento dos personas han fallecido y 19 resultaron heridas por el incendio
