Santo Domingo.- La Corporación del Acueducto y Alcantarillado de Santo Domingo (CAASD) informó este miércoles que con relación al día de ayer, la presa de Valdesia aumentó un centímetro y la presa de Jigüey 53 centímetros en sus niveles de almacenamiento de agua, producto de algunas lluvias originadas en la vertiente sur de la Cordillera Central.
De igual manera, en la cuenca alta del río Haina se produjeron algunas precipitaciones que aumentaron los caudales de este afluente y del río Duey.
«Esto nos ha ayudado a que ayer y hoy el déficit en la producción de agua potable haya disminuido en unos ocho millones de galones al día, es decir, que hoy estamos produciendo 348 millones de galones», precisó el arquitecto Alejandro Montás, director general de la CAASD.
«Aunque hemos tenido esa mejoría, es necesario seguir observando el comportamiento de las lluvias y, debido a que tenemos una sequía tan prolongada, el nivel de filtración que se registra en los suelos es bien alto», aclaró.
«Para que los caudales de los ríos sigan aumentando necesitamos que siga lloviendo hasta que los suelos se saturen y entonces pueda haber suficiente correntía superficial. Por lo tanto, mantenemos el llamado a la ciudadanía a hacer un uso racional del preciado líquido», prosiguió Montás.
El funcionario agregó que «para que esta sequía afecte lo menos posible, mantenemos una flotilla de camiones cisterna de 25 unidades con las que estamos proveyendo el servicio a los sectores más vulnerables en este momento, fundamentalmente a los ubicados en la parte alta de Santo Domingo».
Precisó que se trata de los sectores ubicados en los municipios Los Alcarrizos, Pedro Brand, Santo Domingo Este, algunos del Distrito Nacional, así como los residenciales en la avenida República de Colombia y Arroyo Hondo III.
“La CAASD trabaja de manera incansable para mitigar esta situación y apelamos a la comprensión de la ciudadanía”, dijo finalmente
