CAASD corrige avería en línea de Valdesia con novedoso método

Felipe Subervi expresó su satisfacción por la profesionalidad con que las brigadas de la institución desarrollaron esta hazaña con un mecanismo utilizado por primera vez en el país.

Santo Domingo. – El director general de la Corporación del Acueducto y Alcantarillado de Santo Domingo (CAASD), ingeniero Felipe Suberví, informó sobre la importante corrección de avería realizada en una línea del acueducto Valdesia, con un método aplicado por primera vez en República Dominicana y posiblemente en Latinoamérica.

Se trata de una avería ubicada en una línea del acueducto, próximo a Pueblo Nuevo, detrás de Carrefour, la cual se presentó a 10 metros de profundidad y, aunque la manera convencional es la de excavar, esta opción fue descartada por los ingenieros, debido a que se trató de una problemática que tenía más de un año, tiempo en el que se fue saturando el terreno y, que de proceder a una excavación se corría el riesgo de que se produjera un eventual derrumbe.

Esta prolongación para la intervención de la referida avería tiene dos razones fundamentales, primero el hecho de que el país atravesó por una sequía nada favorable para sacar de servicio el acueducto de Valdesía, ya que éste representa el 60 por ciento del agua potable que se suministra al Gran Santo Domingo, y la segunda, era la complejidad de hacer este tipo de trabajo que en materia de ingeniería representaba un gran reto.

Sin embargo, el director general de la CAASD, Felipe Suberví, en búsqueda de dar soluciones reales a esta situación, ordenó que se ejecutaran los trabajos en este lugar tomando todas las medidas de protecciones necesarias.

El funcionario dijo sentirse orgulloso de su equipo, que a más de cien días de su gestión al frente de la institución, ha logrado cosas impresionantes, consiguiendo desarrollar importantes avances en materia de agua, no solo en Santo Domingo, sino también en la provincia.

Metodología aplicada

Lo primero que se hizo fue identificar la válvula ventosa (control de la presencia de aire) más factible para el acceso con relación al punto afectado, la cual se encontraba a 10 metros de profundidad y a una distancia de 116 metros.

Una vez agotada esta parte, se hizo una perforación de 60 centímetros y fueron drenados aproximadamente 224 mil galones de agua, los cuales estaban estancados fruto de que los desagües están ubicados en puntos bajos. Para lograr esto, se utilizaron dos bombas sumergibles con capacidad de extraer 150 galones por minutos cada una.

Ya sin agua dentro de la tubería, el personal de la CAASD ingresó al interior de ésta, ubicó el desagüe averiado, lo sellaron con una tapa de soldadura, y, además, se ejecutaron pruebas de sonido para garantizar la ausencia de porosidad.

Tan pronto concluyeron los trabajos a lo interno de la tubería, esta fue sellada por fuera y sometida a pruebas de ultrasonidos, porosidad y penetración, con el objetivo de garantizar el funcionamiento correcto una vez se habilitará el servicio del sistema de Valdesia.

Para la realización de estos trabajos dirigidos por el director de Operaciones, ingeniero Luis Salcedo, el personal de la CAASD que participó en la operación, fue evaluado físicamente por profesionales de la salud, se tomó en cuenta cada detalle protocolar con el fin de garantizar la integridad de los colaboradores, quienes estuvieron trabajando bajo condiciones extremas, por lo que contaron con paramédicos y ambulancia disponible para prevenir cualquier novedad que se pudiera haber presentado.

De su lado, el director general de la CAASD mostró su satisfacción al tratarse de una metodología aplicada por primera vez en el país y posiblemente en Latinoamérica, trabajos ejecutados en tiempo récord, y, sobre todo, porque con este paso se garantiza el servicio de agua potable a miles de familias en la provincia.

Otra avería registrada

Unos 60 sectores del GSD se vieron afectados por otra avería que se presentó en un desagüe de fondo de la línea derecha de agua cruda (no tratada) del sistema Valdesia Santo Domingo, en la comunidad Doña Ana del municipio Yaguate, provincia San Cristóbal.

Para la solución de esta avería fue sacado de operación el servicio de agua potable. Con mucha precaución fueron abiertos los desagües de fondos para poder drenar el agua en los puntos bajos. También se corrigió una válvula de drenaje de fondo en la línea derecha en la comunidad de Doña Ana. Se colocaron, además, válvulas y tuberías de doce pulgadas de diámetros, para mejorar los drenajes.

“Nuestro personal técnico especializado, así como nuestras brigadas, trabajaron sin pausa desde el pasado viernes para restablecer el suministro del agua potable en el menor tiempo posible para los sectores afectados”, dijo el funcionario, quien abogó por la compresión de los residentes en sectores afectados, asegurando que estos trabajos eran necesarios a fin de garantizar un buen servicio del agua potable.

Asimismo, instó a los ciudadanos a mantenerse al tanto de cada uno de los procesos que realiza la institución, a favor de la población del Gran Santo Domingo, a través de las redes sociales y la página web de la institución.
