La obra contribuirá a la descontaminación del afluente y sanidad ambiental de todo el entorno.
Santo Domingo.- El director general de la Corporación del Acueducto y Alcantarillado de Santo Domingo (CAASD), arquitecto Alejandro Montás, informó que continúan los trabajos de saneamiento pluvial y sanitario de la cañada de Arroyo Hondo, un proyecto que beneficiará a unos 70,000 residentes del Distrito Nacional.
«El objetivo principal de estos trabajos es la recolección de las aguas residuales domésticas que son emanadas a la cañada. Usaremos dos interceptores en ambos lados del canal principal y convertiremos un tramo en ciclovía para el disfrute de los comunitarios cercanos al área intervenida», manifestó Montás.
El funcionario explicó que los trabajos incluyen la limpieza de ocho kilómetros de la referida depresión natural del terreno, el suministro de 400 metros lineales de alcantarillas tipo cajón de hormigón, suministro y colocación de 500 metros lineales de tuberías, construcción de 1,000 metros lineales de canal a cielo abierto, entre otros.
«Esta cañada constituye el eje del drenaje principal más importante del Distrito Nacional. Posee cinco
grandes afluentes: Arroyo Seco, la Gran Quebrada del Jardín Botánico, así como las cañadas de la Tiradentes, de Villa Marina y Las Colinas», manifestó Montás.
Aclaró que antes de iniciar la obra de saneamiento se realizaron los estudios de impacto ambiental de la zona para preservar en lo mayormente posible los humedales de la cañada.
Asimismo, el arquitecto agregó que los trabajos llevarán la solución al hedor y contaminación que produce la cañada de Arroyo Hondo.
