Sustituye válvula dañada que afectaba servicio en Pedro Brand
Santo Domingo.- La Corporación del Acueducto y alcantarillado de Santo Domingo (CAASD) registra una producción de agua potable de 342 millones de galones por día, lo que representa un déficit de unos 78 millones de galones diarios en relación a los 420 millones que produce en condiciones normales.
La situación se debe a la prolongada falta de lluvias importantes en los ríos que sirven de fuentes a los sistemas de la CAASD, lo que provoca que sus caudales se mantengan a la baja.
“Estos son los ríos Nizao, Ozama, Isabela, Haina, Isa y Duey. Todos estos afluentes mantienen unos caudales con niveles inferiores a los normales para esta época, como lo ha señalado la Oficina Nacional de Meteorología (Onamet)”, informó el director general de la CAASD, arquitecto Alejandro Montás.
“Producto de esta situación, el acueducto Barrera de Salinidad, que cuenta con seis equipos de bombeo para operar normalmente, hoy está trabajando con dos equipos”, precisó.
Montás agregó que “el sistema Isabela, que normalmente opera con tres equipos de bombeo, lo está haciendo con uno. Los sistemas Isa Mana y Duey también trabajan con bajos niveles en sus tomas”.
Además, señaló que el pasado viernes realizaron una operación estratégica en el denominado Dique de Ochoa, una infraestructura localizada hacia el kilómetro 25 de la autopista Duarte, sobre el río Haina.
“Nosotros lo operamos los viernes para que el agua almacenada allí escurra y llegue hasta la obra de toma del acueducto Haina Manoguayabo, a fin de que este sábado pudiéramos dar el abastecimiento correspondiente a la Zona Industrial de Herrera en condiciones normales”, prosiguió.
El director señaló que producto de esa labor, el acueducto de Haina está trabajando con siete equipos y 25 pulgadas de nivel. “Ese resultado no se debe a un incremento del caudal del río por lluvias, sino a que el volumen de agua almacenado en el Dique de Ochoa fue derivado la mañana del viernes para que al día siguiente pudiera estar en la toma de Haina”, precisó.
Montás resaltó que este fin de semana sustituyeron una válvula de 24 pulgadas que estaba averiada y que había ocasionado dificultades en el servicio al municipio Pedro Brand, “que recibe agua normalmente los miércoles y domingos”.
“Tras nosotros sustituir la válvula y resolver el inconveniente de la avería, Pedro Brand recibió el preciado líquido durante la mañana del sábado en algunos de sus sectores y este domingo tiene el servicio habitual”, añadió.
Para solucionar el problema de la válvula, la CAASD tuvo que hacer una inversión cercana a los RD$800,000 en forma ágil en el mercado local, porque la que se tenía disponible estaba dañada, mientras que el sistema Isa Mana fue sacado de operación brevemente para fines de prueba, detalló Montás.
Especificó que esta semana realizaron 7,253 intervenciones en la red de alcantarillado, resolvieron 126 averías, hicieron dos desobstrucciones para optimizar las redes y trabajaron en cuatro válvulas para eficientizar el servicio.
“Nuestras brigadas siguen trabajando en las labores rutinarias de corrección de averías y electromecánica. Seguimos en la avenida Núñez de Cáceres reparando una avería tanto de agua potable como de agua sanitaria”, detalló el funcionario.
“Este fin de semana estuvimos trabajando en el sector Hato Nuevo, corrigiendo una avería. También trabajamos hoy en la reparación de un motor en el municipio Santo Domingo Norte. Nuestras brigadas de alcantarillado sanitario y de operación de la red continúan sus labores habituales a fin de que esta crisis por la ausencia de lluvias impacte lo menos posible a la población”, puntualizó.
Como medida de mitigación, dijo que la CAASD mantiene una flotilla de 100 unidades de camiones cisterna asistiendo a los sectores más afectados por este problema y ha realizado una reingeniería del programa de distribución del agua del acueducto Valdesia para trasvasar el líquido desde allí hacia el municipio Santo Domingo Oeste y los sectores de Arroyo Hondo y La Isabela cuando les corresponde el servicio.
