Director CAASD anuncia trabajos para reorganizar servicio en Mercado Nuevo de avenida Duarte

Santo Domingo.- El director general de la Corporación del Acueducto y Alcantarillado de Santo Domingo (CAASD), arquitecto Alejandro Montás, anunció el inicio de los trabajos de construcción de un nuevo sistema de bombeo en el Mercado Nuevo de la avenida Duarte del Distrito Nacional, a beneficio de los vendedores de la zona.

Se trata de una labor conjunta con el Instituto Nacional de Protección de los Derechos del Consumidor (Pro Consumidor), cuya directora, Anina del Castillo, acompañó al director de la CAASD en un recorrido por dicho mercado.

«Nosotros hemos venido a reorganizar y a normalizar el servicio de agua potable y de aguas residuales en el Mercado Nuevo. Los trabajos, en términos generales, serán la construcción de un nuevo sistema de bombeo, la eliminación de las instalaciones provisionales y organizar el sistema de distribución de agua potable a los mercaderes», puntualizó Montás.

Asimismo, especificó que realizarán muestreos en la cisterna y en diferentes puntos del Mercado Modelo para establecer la calidad del agua.

De su lado, la directora de Pro Consumidor expresó: «De parte de la CAASD esta es una gran medida que regularizará el sistema de agua. Es también una forma de agregar valor a un trabajo ya conjunto, a la CAASD se suman otras instituciones que seguiremos coordinando desde Pro Consumidor».

El presidente de la Asociación de Comerciantes de los Mercados, Antonio Then, dijo: «Todo lo que sea en beneficio de nuestros mercados y comerciantes es bienvenido, esto lo habíamos estado reclamando por muchos años y ahora se ve una disposición de todas las autoridades de solucionar esta problemática».

Los trabajos de ambas instituciones fueron acordados mediante un levantamiento realizado en el Mercado Modelo por los titulares de ambas instituciones gubernamentales.
